WWE 2K25 Shutdown Date Revealed
Though WWE 2K25 was released just six months ago, publisher 2K Games has announced the wrestling title’s server shutdown date. However, players don’t have to worry about WWE 2K25 disappearing anytime soon, as the shutdown date is set precisely two years from when the game launched.
It’s common knowledge by now that online-centric sports and multiplayer games have a limited shelf life owing to factors like high server upkeep costs, license expirations, changes in ownership of publishing rights, and more. Compounding this further is the shift toward digital-only games that effectively vanish into the ether after being delisted from online storefronts, an issue that the Stop Killing Games movement aims to combat. The 2K-published WWE 2K25 is the latest game for which a server shutdown date has been revealed, but players are at least being given a decent heads-up.
WWE 2K25 Servers Will Be Retired in March 2027
Not long after WWE 2K25 headlined the PS Plus Extra and Premium September 2025 lineup, it’s been revealed that the wresting game will go offline starting March 14, 2027. This information comes courtesy of 2K’s Online Services Status page, and the shutdown date is exactly two full years from WWE 2K25‘s launch on March 14, 2025. Players now have just under a year and a half to rack up WWE 2K25 trophies, enjoy its multiplayer modes, build wacky characters using Community Creations, and what not. Still, for a $70 game available across virtually every notable platform right now, a two-year window of relevance does feel a tad too short.
In fact, WWE 2K25 players on Switch 2 have it slightly worse than those on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC, because the game came to the Nintendo handheld in late July 2025 — over four months after the other platforms — that too at the same $70 price point. Therefore, Switch 2 players are getting a bit less value out of their purchase relative to when WWE 2K25 servers are planned to go offline. Combine that with WWE 2K25‘s Switch 2 version omitting features like the image uploader and Community Creations, and the value quotient for Nintendo users sinks further.
Compared to WWE 2K23 and WWE 2K24, WWE 2K25 is getting a mildly longer lease on life at least, with the former two games slated to go offline about 22 months from their respective release dates. Moreover, WWE 2K25 isn’t the only 2K-published title that will stop receiving further support in 2027 either, with online service for PGA Tour 2K23 set to be retired on February 28, 2027 — just a couple of weeks earlier. More imminently, 2K will shut down The Golf Club 2019 and PGA Tour 2K21 on October 30, 2025.
